First announcement

The Steklov Mathematical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences together with Moscow State (Lomonosov) University are organizing an International Conference on Mathematics and Applications dedicated to the 90th Anniversary of the prominent mathematician Lev Semenovich Pontryagin. The Conference will be held in Moscow from August, 31 to September, 6, 1998 and will include the following four sections: Algebra, Geometry and Topology, Differential Equations, Optimal Control.

Registration

The registration form is available at pont@mi.ras.ru. The completed registration forms must reach the Organizing Committee by April 2, 1998 at the latest.

Registration fee.

The registration fee for the Conference will be approximately 100 USD. We hope to obtain some financial support for participants from the FSU countries.

Abstracts

The participants should submit their abstracts to the Organizing Committee by May 15, 1998. The length of the abstract should not exceed two typewritten pages. Sending TeX files (in any standard macro package) by E-mail is strongly encouraged.

Accommodations

Accomodation will be available at the Moscow University Hotel Complex (located in the Main Building of the University) and the city hotels.
